When you don’t have time to make it to the gym, go for a run or even practice yoga for 20 minutes, you can still achieve daily victories by becoming more cardio-conscious throughout your day.
Rather than driving around the grocery store or mall parking lots three or four times for a front row parking space, park further away and walk briskly for a little extra cardiovascular exercise. Challenge yourself to always take the stairs rather than using the elevators and escalators.
If your daily form of exercise is a walk with your dog, boost your caloric burn by increasing your pace, speed walking or even jogging for a few blocks on and off during your walk. Just a slight increase in intensity can greatly improve aerobic capacity and endurance so you and your pet can achieve daily cardiovascular victories. Think of these normal activities as opportunities to easily increase your activity level. Do them daily and, in no time, they will become new, heart-healthy habits.
And don’t forget to boost your energy levels by satisfying the mid-day munchies with a Balance Bar and a bottle of water as a healthy snack alternative. Stable blood sugar spares glucose for your brain and helps to release stored body fat to be burned for fuel.
