Four Healthy Ways to Celebrate Mother's Day

Mother's Day is always a bit of a challenge for me because my mom is one of those people who has everything. So this year I am going to switch things up! Instead of a present, I plan on spending the day with my mom doing some of our favorite healthy activities. A day together without work or other distractions can be much more special than a present anyway.

Here are some fun ideas to consider as you’re planning your Mother’s Day.

Yoga class 

Find a class in your area that has a Mother’s Day special or simply book a class early on Sunday morning. Yoga is a fantastic way to slow things down while relaxing and meditating (something every mom needs!). Yoga can also restore Balance to what can easily become a very hectic day for mom. Bonus points if you treat her to a delicious brunch afterward!

Cook a healthy dinner

Moms are often the ones that are responsible for cooking the big meal for the family. Give your mom a break this year by volunteering to cook a healthy dinner for everyone. She will appreciate the time to relax and the delicious meal. Don’t forget to clean up afterwards!

Plant a garden 

Give the gift of fresh vegetables! You can buy herbs and vegetables and plant them on Mother’s Day for a tasty gift that keeps on giving. Plant ideas include: peppers, basil, tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers. She’ll enjoy the harvest all summer long in salads, pastas, omelets, kabobs and much more! Give the gift of fitness

For Mother's Day, you can purchase a gym membership or a series of group classes for your mom to keep an exercise routine on her schedule. Has she been talking about a new spin studio or a dance class she heard about from a friend? Find her favorite exercise activity and book it! Then, plan to attend the first class together on Mother’s Day to kick off your day with a workout that’ll leave you both feeling great.
